 Abstract
The present article offers a linguistic investigation concerning the representation of prominent business personalities in the press. This issue is addressed by outlining the metaphorical networks underlying contemporary journalistic discourse. The analysis combines the theoretical tools of cognitive semantics with authentic language samples extracted from both popular and scholarly business English magazines, newspapers and reports.

 Rezumat
Articolul de faţă oferă o investigaţie de natură lingvistică a reprezentării în presă a personalităţilor din lumea afacerilor. Aceasta problemă este abordată prin delimitarea şi analizarea reţelelor de metafore prezente în discursul journalistic contemporan. Analiza combină instrumentele teoretice ale semanticii cognitive cu exemple autentice de discurs extrase din reviste populare şi ştiinţifice, ziare şi rapoarte economice.
